Just wondering who/if anybody would like to see a permanent post with each member saying which country and county/state they are in. Nobody would be obliged to reveal if they did not wish to
Thoughts?

If people wish they can state their location under their name and avatar. A seperate thread if a sticky is just another thing at the top of the list before you can see if there are any new threads/topics and I can only see three now due to the number of stickies.

Agree with Bran, most people tend to skip over the stickies, anyway and not notice the new posts 'highlighted'. Also, Crispy has a post for 'Google where you live' - so members could always use that.

Got to admit, I hate loads of stickies at the top of forum boards.

It would be handy if members had at least the country they are in under their name. Especially helpful if someone's asking for help.
If it was in a posting, I'd only end up forgetting.

Couldn't you make the 'Location' box in the profile a compulsory addition? People don't have to be too specific, but as Fougere says it helps with a lot of the posts if you have some idea where people are.

I suppose I could nag people to put their country, and preferably there county/state. Unfortunately I can't make it a compulsary thing, except by threatening temp bans of accounts. Not very friendly.

Oh no, I didn't mean anything that drastic, or that you have to nag. I was thinking more along the lines of being a compulsory box you have to enter information otherwise you can't register - like doing your e-mail address or whatever.

Sorry, I do realise what you meant, but I have no control over what is compulsory when registering, although I will have a good look.
