Sunday 3rd August 2014 at 11 am
Stockwell Park Stables, Kirby Wharfe, Tadcaster, North Yorkshire LS24 9DE
Starting at 11 am a non strenuous donkey/mule walk across a private estate (no roadwork.) Please bring a picnic lunch to be eaten on the walk at The Keep where there are stunning views to admire, if the weather is kind.
Following the walk there will be fun and games in the outdoor arena where an obstacle course will be set up for our long ears to test out.
Horsebox/trailer parking is on flat concrete. Toilet facilities are available and lots of under cover seating if it's raining.
Please phone Pat on 07850584785 or email pat_mather@msn.com
Please come along with your donks and mules and support this event. If you can't bring your animals why not come along anyway and meet other donkey people. It sounds like it's going to be a jolly gathering.

I'm planning on going with Maybelline and Ebony (again!) Ebony walks at a decent pace, so can pull Maybelline along. Or if you're coming but not bringing Sally then you can lead one of mine Looby. It's a real pity you can't make it Yvonne.

No not taking Sally - haven't got any transport for her (well that's my excuse) - may take you up on the offer LLR - just checking dates as for some reason that date rings a bell.

Yep I'm coming with a work mate ( she is the one who came to 'help' on Palm Sunday) and also Claire- so any offer to loan nice quiet donkeys mules would be appreciated. Are you coming along Freddie?

Attachment Deleted I have just bought off ebay for £10 a brand new set of Shires saddle bags for the donkey/mule day. I don't know if the colour had anything to do with the price, but anyway I love pink. So - anyone who wants their packed lunch, water bottle, spare socks (kitchen sink) transported on the walk - we've got plenty of room. Actually, having unpacked them, there seemed to be all sorts of straps and attachments and I wasn't sure how they fixed to the saddle. So I googled "how to attach Shires saddle bags" and it would seem that loads of other people had asked the same question. Once explained it's pretty obvious. But you'd think they could enclose instructions.

I love tadcaster. I identified it recently as my favourite place in the north of England I would move to. I will try to get the day off.

That would be great if you can make it as well LP, and bring a couple of your little treasures. Or even Borris.

So who is coming next Sunday? Looked at the weather forecast and it's not looking too good at the moment. So looking forward to it.

Well I'm still coming. Are you still bringing your friend Looby? Don't worry, I've ordered fine weather, but if you want to bring foul weather gear, you can pack it all in my supernew panniers and Ebony can carry them. (I haven't told her yet ) In fact they are that spacious that I reckon we can fit in enough gear for a whole weekend, never mind a couple of hours. I noticed the event is advertised on the DBS website, and mentions all sorts of things to do after the walk, so should be a good day. Will you be able to make it Lavenderpye?

I'll be there with my work mate and Claire is coming too - will bring everything but the kitchen sink then! Does anyone know if the place is easy to find? I will email you my mates mobile as I don't have one at the moment.

Yes it's easy to get to - just off a road off the A162 from Tadcaster. There aren't lots of windy roads and funny junctions, if that's what you mean.

So we all set for tomorrow? Hope the weather is kind to us as we are in the middle of a thunder storm at the moment.

It's lovely here this morning, about 15 miles from Kirby Wharfe. So hope it stays like this. I'm just making my sarnies (obviously not as I post on here!), and shall be taking wet weather gear just in case.

Brilliant day had by all - weather was perfect, not too hot and windy, companions were fantastic and nice to meet up with friends old and new. Even my non donkey friend enjoyed herself, who knows next year I might take Sally.
